Through education, mentorship, and community engagement, we strive to implement effective strategies that promote the highest quality of care for communities of color.

National Nurses Month
May is National Nurses Month, a time to recognize and honor the incredible dedication, compassion, and expertise of nurses everywhere. The SCBNA proudly celebrates the vital contributions our nurses make each and every day—not only to our patients and their families, but to the entire healthcare community. As part of this month-long celebration, we also recognize National Nurse Week, observed from May 6th through May12 th . The week begins with National Nurses Day on May 6th , a time to formally acknowledge and appreciate the dedication of nurses. National Student Nurse Day,
celebrated on May 8th, honors the future of nursing and the students working hard to join the profession. The week concludes on May 12th with International Nurses Day.


EMS Week
EMS Week is celebrated annually from May 18 th through May 24 th . This week, we proudly recognize and honor the incredible work of Emergency Medical Services professionals who serve on the front lines with skill, courage, and compassion. From responding to critical emergencies to saving lives in unpredictable situations, EMS personnel play a vital role in our healthcare system and our communities. Their dedication, quick thinking, and commitment to care make a difference every single day. The SCBNA would like to thank all EMS personal for all that the do.


Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month—a time to break the stigma, raise awareness, and prioritize emotional well-being. Mental Health is just as important as physical health. Whether you’re a patient, a caregiver, a provider, of a loved one, know that you are not alone. This month, we stand together to raise awareness, foster understanding, and advocate for access to mental health support for all. Together, we can make mental health a priority—this month and every month.


SCBNA Annual Tea Party
The theme this year is "Burnout of the Caregiver." Caregivers give so much of themselves and often feel unseen and under appreciated.
You don't want to miss this afternoon featuring guest speakers who will share tips for identifying signs of and prevention of burnout and, of course there will be, tea!
